Johan Claesson will present ‘Nuläge’, an exhibition of minimalist photographs centred on a bottle, at Abecita Popkonst & Foto in Borås, Sweden. The exhibition will explore emotional and existential states through variations in the bottle’s contents and condition, using water, emptiness and transformation as recurring metaphors for inner change. It will be on view from 24 September 2026 through 10 January 2027.
The exhibition announcement describes Claesson’s approach as restrained but charged. Rather than relying on a broad range of subjects, ‘Nuläge’ concentrates on a single recurring form and the subtle differences produced by its changing state. These variations are used to evoke moments of transition, including the choices and circumstances that emerge at life’s crossroads — some chosen, some imposed. ‘Nuläge’ opens at a shared vernissage on Thursday 24 September 2026 at 18.30, together with Lena Granefelt’s ‘Natura Obscura’ and Jan M Lundahl’s Bruce Springsteen exhibition; both of those also run until 10 January 2027. A fourth new show, Glada Hudik-teatern’s ‘Det kunde varit vi’, made with the photographer Magnus Laupa, follows on 8 October 2026 and closes on the same date.
The new programme replaces most of what is currently on view: the venue says 19 September 2026 is the last day for its exhibitions by Caroline Roosmark, Hasse Persson and Mikael Pilstrand. Anna Litander’s ‘Ögonblick du missade’, which opened on 7 May 2026, continues alongside the autumn shows until 10 January 2027. Abecita is also rebuilding its premises and says it will move in January to newly renovated spaces closer to ground level.
Abecita Popkonst & Foto is at Herrljungagatan 15 in the Knalleland area of Borås. Its listed regular hours are Tuesday to Friday from 11.00 to 16.00 and Saturday to Sunday from 11.00 to 15.00; the venue is closed on Mondays.
