The exhibition rooms will be closed from 26 October to 26 November 2026 for urgent technical measures. The closure applies to the rooms of the presentation during the specified period.
The presentation comprises three rooms and runs from 27 February 2026 through 12 September 2027. It brings together eight paintings by Günther Förg and a large-format photograph of the Bauhaus building in Dessau.
The paintings come from a private collection and cover the period from 1987 to 2008. One identified work is ‘Ohne Titel (Großformat Rot Blau),’ made in 1999.
The presentation emphasizes Förg’s use of loosely placed patches of colour, together with floating or compressed grid and window forms. Its stated focus therefore includes both the placement of colour patches and the treatment of grid and window forms as floating or compressed structures.
The museum describes Förg as an artist who painted at a time when painting appeared to have no future and identifies him as one of the important artists of the 1980s and 1990s. Günther Förg lived from 1952 to 2013.
