The Musée des beaux-arts de La Chaux-de-Fonds will inaugurate ‘Rêver platine. Sandrine Pelletier et Jean-Luc Verna’ from 6 September 2026 to 3 January 2027, bringing together the work of Sandrine Pelletier and Jean-Luc Verna in an exhibition of drawings, sculptures and installations. The show is curated by David Lemaire and Kahina Hamlaoui, and opens with a public vernissage on Saturday 5 September at 5pm at the museum in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland.
According to the museum’s announcement, the exhibition brings the two artists’ practices into dialogue around what it describes as a shared indignation in response to the violence of the contemporary world. The museum’s exhibition page does not itemise the works or give a total count.
The museum describes Pelletier as an artist who burns, breaks and tests her materials, setting wood, metal and glass against fire, acid and accident, producing what it calls landscapes after the shock. Born in 1976, she lives and works between Cairo and Lausanne, and the museum links the direction of her work since 2012 to her time in Lebanon and Egypt. Verna, born in 1966 and based in Paris, is presented through proliferating drawings and music-hall installations, and as an artist engaged on behalf of overlooked and oppressed communities, in particular LGBTQIA+ people.
‘Rêver platine’ is one of two new temporary exhibitions being inaugurated by the Musée des beaux-arts de La Chaux-de-Fonds that evening. The other, ‘Voyages en zigzag. La collection de Philippe Bodenmann’, presents more than 200 works from a collection bequeathed to the museum in 2025. That exhibition is separate from the presentation of Pelletier and Verna.
The vernissage will be free and open to the public. Doors open at 5pm, with speeches scheduled for 5:30pm followed by an apéritif. Sandrine Pelletier and Jean-Luc Verna are due to attend, alongside Philippe Bodenmann. The museum is located at Rue des Musées 33, CH-2300 La Chaux-de-Fonds.
