‘Temitayo Ogunbiyi: You will have revelations along felled branches and longer roots/routes’ opens in the galleries of the Wexner Center for the Arts in Columbus, Ohio, on 20 September 2026 and runs until 14 February 2027, free for all audiences.
The exhibition was organised by The Arts Club of Chicago, where it was curated by Executive Director and Chief Curator Janine Mileaf and shown from 17 September to 19 December 2025. The Arts Club describes what travels to Ohio as a version of that exhibition; at the Wexner Center the presentation is coordinated by Curator of Exhibitions Rebecca Lowery. The Wex newsletter adds that the Columbus showing incorporates elements of a further exhibition organised by The Noguchi Museum, a credit the centre’s own exhibition page does not carry.
The Wexner Center calls it Ogunbiyi’s first solo exhibition in Columbus. The Lagos-based artist moves between drawing, painting, sculpture and installation, forging dialogues between current events, plants, people and communities, and the Columbus display follows the layered histories and everyday uses of plants from Nigeria to the Midwest.
On show are sculptures formed from copper-alloy casts of grinding stones — which the centre calls the ancient version of the blender or food processor — and palm fibres, tied to histories of nourishment and labour and to counting systems such as the abacus and the quipu. Visitors can handle some pieces, among them antique wooden desks and side tables that reveal and conceal botanical drawings made on herbarium paper, the material long used to mount plant specimens; paintings arranged on the walls show native Midwest plants.
The exhibition is one of four autumn presentations introduced at the centre’s Fall 2026 Exhibitions Opening Celebration on Friday 18 September, 4–8pm, for which free tickets are offered. The Wexner Center is at The Ohio State University, 1871 North High Street, Columbus.
