The Kubosō Memorial Museum of Arts in Izumi, Osaka Prefecture, is presenting the special exhibition 「初！全点一挙公開 久保惣の西洋絵画 ─モネ・ルノワール・ゴッホをはじめとして─」, which the museum renders in English as its first complete exhibition of its Western paintings collection. The show runs from 5 July to 4 October 2026, and on 16 August the museum said it was approaching the midpoint of its run.
According to the museum's exhibition page, this is the first time its Western holdings have been shown together in full, including works held on deposit. The museum opened as a specialist institution for East Asian antiquities and has maintained a gallery devoted to Western art since its new wing opened in 1997, making it one of the few places in Osaka Prefecture where Western painting can be seen year-round. The exhibition marks the 70th anniversary of Izumi's incorporation as a city.
In its 16 August post the museum named Monet, Renoir and Van Gogh alongside Rouault, Modigliani, Picasso and Matisse, and said sculpture by Rodin is also on view. For the exhibition it has borrowed Monet's 'Morning on the Seine' from the Hiroshima Museum of Art and shows it beside its own 'Water Lilies'. Accompanying activities include a family viewing programme on 19 and 20 August, a colouring corner running to 23 August, and a photo spot open until the exhibition closes. The museum says the water lilies in its garden should be at their best around late September. Photography with mobile phones is permitted for most works, with some exceptions.
The museum opens from 10am to 5pm, with last admission at 4.30pm, and closes on Mondays; when a Monday falls on a public holiday it opens instead and closes the following weekday. The exhibition continues until 4 October 2026.
