The Museum of Fine Arts, Gifu will present ‘Celebration of Modern French Paintings’ in Exhibition Room 3 from 26 September to 13 December 2026. Organised with the cooperation of the Kasama Nichido Museum of Art, the exhibition brings together works by artists including Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, Edvard Munch, Henri Matisse, Georges Rouault, Marc Chagall, Tsuguharu Fujita and Pablo Picasso.
Among the principal works listed are Monet’s ‘London, Charing Cross Bridge’ (c. 1900); van Gogh’s ‘Road at Saint-Rémy’ (c. 1889–90); Matisse’s ‘Woman Sitting by a Window’ (c. 1919–20); and Pierre-Auguste Renoir’s ‘Girl by the Fountain’ (1887). These works are associated with the Kasama Nichido Museum of Art.
The museum will hold a public production event by Katsuhiko Hibino on 26 September, alongside a commemorative lecture, gallery talks, art lectures and Nan-ya-rone art tours during the exhibition’s run. The exhibition will be open from 10am to 6pm, with extended hours until 8pm on 16 October and 20 November.
