As part of ‘Verdant: French Masterworks from the National Gallery of Art,’ the Whatcom Museum has introduced an educational pilot program offering free admission to K–12 school field-trip groups visiting the exhibition. The program is intended for groups coming to see the masterworks.
Each tour lasts 1.5 hours and combines an interactive viewing of ‘Verdant’ with one additional exhibition at the museum. Possible additional exhibitions include ‘Under the Inspiration Tree,’ ‘El velo exquisito,’ and ‘Not the Whole Picture.’ The tour also includes a related ‘Verdant’ art-making activity.
The exhibition is scheduled to run from February 14, 2025, through January 24, 2027, at the Lightcatcher, located at 250 Flora Street in Bellingham.
The paintings are on long-term loan from the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., through the National Gallery’s ‘Across the Nation’ program. In 2025 and 2026, that program is sharing artworks from the National Gallery’s collection with 10 regional museums around the United States.
