The exhibition will be organized by the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, the Hammer Museum and Asahi Shimbun. It is planned to travel to Abeno Harukas Art Museum in Osaka from December 22, 2027, to March 12, 2028.
The exhibition will be the first opportunity in Japan since the Hammer Museum opened to present its collection in a unified form. The announced artists include Titian, Rembrandt, Moreau, Degas, Cézanne, Monet, Renoir, Gauguin and Van Gogh.
The Hammer Museum opened in Los Angeles in 1990. It is currently operated by the University of California, Los Angeles, and presents exhibitions of contemporary art alongside free public programs.
One work features a golden costume, white skin and a pearl chest ornament that reflects light. The work uses swirling brushwork, forceful lines and vivid colors.
