The Centro Atlántico de Arte Moderno (CAAM) in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria will open its 2026 ‘JazzCAAM’ cycle with a free concert by Luis Sánchez Trío on 21 August. The performance is scheduled for 8 pm in the museum’s Sala polivalente, with in-person registration available at CAAM reception from 6 pm to 7:45 pm on the day of the concert, allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

According to CAAM, the event is part of its multidisciplinary programme and places contemporary musical creation at the centre of the evening. The trio is presented in an intimate, close-up format under the title ‘Jazz en el aire’, bringing together three musicians from the Canarian jazz scene: Luis Sánchez Guerra on piano, Suso Vega on drums and Carlos Meneses on double bass. CAAM describes the concert as a new date within ‘JazzCAAM’, a cycle that sits alongside the institution’s broader public activities.

Luis Sánchez Guerra is identified by the museum as an emerging jazz musician from the Canary Islands, and the linked page notes his training at Berklee College of Music. The trio’s repertoire is made up of original compositions, with CAAM highlighting a blend of contemporary jazz tradition and personal creativity in Sánchez Guerra’s work.

The concert page also places Carlos Meneses and Suso Vega among key figures in the local scene. CAAM describes Meneses as a musician from Gran Canaria with experience as a double bassist, bassist, pianist and producer, and notes that he has led his own trio on recordings including 'Live at CAAM' and 'Like One'. Vega is presented as one of the major references for jazz drumming in the Canary Islands.

The programme’s emphasis is on improvisation and the interaction among the three performers, with CAAM saying the format is intended to offer the audience a direct encounter with the musicians and the freedom of expression associated with jazz. The event is announced as part of ‘JazzCAAM 2026’ on the museum’s agenda page.

‘Concierto de Luis Sánchez Trío’ takes place on Friday 21 August 2026 at 20:00 in CAAM’s Sala polivalente, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Entry is free, with on-site registration at the museum reception between 18:00 and 19:45.
