Marian Goodman Gallery will present Edith Dekyndt’s first solo exhibition with the gallery in New York, opening on September 10, 2026. Titled ‘Notes on What is What’, the exhibition is scheduled to run through October 24, 2026, in the gallery’s Tribeca space at 385 Broadway.
The gallery says the presentation takes its point of departure from the vision of an insular society preserved from the forces shaping the rest of the world. That idea is linked in the exhibition text to Aldous Huxley’s final novel, ‘Island’, published in 1962, which reimagines conditions for coexistence between living beings, resources and ways of inhabiting the world. Marian Goodman describes the island as a “territory of condensation,” a bounded space that makes it possible to observe the circulation of matter, narratives and practices on a scale where complexity remains visible rather than simplified.
Dekyndt’s exhibition is framed by the artist’s longstanding interest in fragile balances and interdependencies. According to the gallery, the work centers on insular microcosms and the way boundaries can reveal rather than obscure the movement of matter. The exhibition announcement emphasizes that these structures have long informed Dekyndt’s reflection, positioning ‘Notes on What is What’ as a continuation of that inquiry rather than a departure from it.
The New York show is one of two forthcoming solo exhibitions Marian Goodman Gallery is announcing in the city. A separate Tony Cragg exhibition is also slated for the same dates, September 10 to October 24, 2026, and will include new sculptures in bronze, wood, stone and steel. Within the gallery’s New York program, Dekyndt’s presentation appears as part of a broader autumn schedule rather than an isolated event.
Dekyndt, who is represented here with a first solo exhibition at the gallery, is known through this announcement for a project that draws on literary reference as well as material and spatial thinking.
