Madrid’s summer film series Cibeles de Cine is back for its 11th edition, running from June 25 to September 8 in CentroCentro’s Crystal Gallery. Organized by CentroCentro and mk2 Cines, the open-air program will screen more than 70 titles over 11 weeks, with a particular emphasis this year on Spanish cinema alongside major international releases, classics, cult favorites and family films.

The 2026 edition opens with Pedro Almodóvar’s 'Volver', timed to the film’s 20th anniversary. The organizers say this year’s theme is a tribute to Spanish cinema and its strong international standing, a focus reflected both in the program and in the poster for the season. The official image was designed by Beatriz Ramo, whose 'Naranjalidad' was inspired by the iconic poster Juan Gatti created for 'Volver'.

A parallel exhibition, 'Un país de puro cine', also forms part of the season’s framing. It brings together photographic portraits of prominent figures in Spanish film, made by photographers associated with El País. The press materials describe it as an aerial exhibition, positioned as a visual salute to the country’s film industry rather than a separate screening strand.

The main program includes recent Spanish titles that have drawn awards attention and box office interest, among them 'Los domingos', which won the 2026 Goya Awards and will screen with director Alauda Ruiz de Azúa in attendance, as well as 'La cena', 'Aída y vuelta', 'Yo no moriré de amor', 'Maspalomas', 'Amarga Navidad', 'Flores para Antonio', 'Cada día nace un listo' and 'El ser querido', following its appearance at Cannes. The series also includes a selection of new international releases such as 'El diablo viste de Prada 2', 'Proyecto salvación', 'Cumbres borrascosas', 'Michael' and 'Marty Supreme'.

Festival and awards titles remain a strong part of the line-up, with screenings of 'Valor sentimental', 'Una batalla tras otra', 'Hamnet', 'Bugonia', 'El agente secreto', 'Tres adioses', 'Father Mother Sister Brother', 'Incontrolable' and 'La chica zurda'. The lineup also makes room for anticipated upcoming releases including 'El drama', 'El día de la revelación' and 'La odisea'.

Cibeles de Cine will also revisit cult cinema with anniversary screenings of 'Moulin Rouge', 'El viaje de Chihiro', 'Pulp Fiction', 'Dirty Dancing', 'Kill Bill. The Whole Bloody Affair' and 'La princesa prometida'. Sundays are reserved for classics, with titles including 'La escopeta nacional', 'El laberinto del fauno', 'Belle Époque', 'Cabaret', 'Vértigo', 'Manhattan', 'Cuenta conmigo', 'Desayuno con diamantes' and 'Taxi Driver'. Saturdays are set aside for family films such as 'Toy Story 5', 'Super Mario: Galaxy', 'Minions & Monsters', 'Zootropolis 2', 'Shrek' and 'Dentro del laberinto', with those screenings shown dubbed in Spanish.

The venue opens daily from 8 p.m., with screenings beginning at 10 p.m. The Crystal Gallery’s seating capacity is 650, and the organizers say the films are shown in high definition with wireless headphones in original version with Spanish subtitles, except on Saturdays. Ticket sales for the June and July program are already available online, with general admission priced at 7 euros at the box office and 8 euros online. In 2025, the series drew more than 45,000 viewers.
