Intesa Sanpaolo has taken part in a €231 million financing for the National Strategic Hub, or Polo Strategico Nazionale (PSN), in a banking pool that also includes Cassa Depositi e Prestiti and other leading Italian lenders. The bank said its IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division acted in the transaction as Structuring Bank, Global Coordinator and Original Mandated Lead Arranger.
The financing follows a transaction signed in 2024 and is intended to support PSN’s next phase of growth. According to Intesa Sanpaolo, the new package will refinance existing debt and provide additional resources for the continued development of Italy’s national cloud infrastructure, as more public administrations connect to the platform.
The announcement places the deal within Italy’s wider digital transformation agenda. Intesa Sanpaolo described PSN as a company that plays a key role in that process, and said the hub is designed to provide secure, economically and environmentally sustainable management of data and applications for the Italian public administration.
PSN is owned by TIM, Leonardo, Cassa Depositi e Prestiti through its subsidiary CDP Equity, and Sogei. The company’s stated mission is to develop and manage an independent cloud infrastructure for public-sector use, with the aim of centralising and safeguarding digital services and data for government bodies.
In the financing, IMI CIB worked alongside the other financial institutions in the pool. Intesa Sanpaolo’s statement did not name the full roster of banks involved, but identified the transaction as part of a broader collaboration with Cassa Depositi e Prestiti and some of Italy’s leading banks.
The deal was announced on 6 August 2026. Intesa Sanpaolo said the move builds on the earlier 2024 transaction and responds to the growing number of public administrations joining the PSN platform, as the project continues to expand its national cloud infrastructure.
