Tokyo Photographic Art Museum has announced a month-long summer programme in August 2026, combining exhibition access incentives, evening opening hours, film screenings, a concert and visitor services under the banner 'TOPのなつやすみ 2026'. The museum said the seasonal line-up runs from 1 to 30 August and is designed to give visitors multiple ways to experience its current exhibitions and public spaces.
The clearest draw is a limited capsule-toy campaign tied to same-day viewing of at least two exhibitions. Visitors who see two or more exhibitions on the day of their visit can take part once in a capsule toy offering a 'TOPのめじるしリング', with 2,100 items available on a first-come, first-served basis. The museum said the campaign runs from 1 to 16 August, or until prizes run out, in the first-floor lobby.
The offer is linked to three exhibitions currently on view: 'TOPコレクション 明日の食卓' on the third floor, '出光真子 おんなのさくひん――ある映像作家の自伝' on the second floor, and 'Nikon Small World / NIKON JOICO AWARD展 『ミクロの世界 -生命(いのち)の未来を照らす-』' in the basement level exhibition space. Visitors are asked to present tickets or other proof that they saw at least two exhibitions on the day they come.
The museum is also extending its opening hours on Thursday and Friday evenings throughout August. On 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21, 27 and 28 August, the museum will stay open until 9 p.m., with last admission at 8:30 p.m. From 5 p.m. onward, students may enter free of charge, while general visitors and those aged 65 and over can use the group rate with proof of eligibility. The museum noted this is part of 'Summer Night Museum 2026'.
Several related programmes are scheduled across the month, including a mini concert titled 'Museum×東京文化会館' on 13 August at 2F lobby, free of charge, and a screening programme for '出光真子 おんなのさくひん――ある映像作家の自伝' featuring all 40 works from 27 to 30 August and again from 17 to 20 September in the first-floor hall. Another film series will screen 'かもめ食堂', 'めがね' and '土を喰らう十二ヵ月' from 7 to 16 August and 4 to 6 September, with a behind-the-projection-room visit attached to the 9 August screening of 'かもめ食堂'.
Additional August offerings include 'OneCoin(ワンコイン)映画館~ショートフィルム特選~' on 4, 5, 18, 19, 25 and 26 August; an 'All Welcome Day' access-support programme on 23 August; a librarian-led photo-book selection service called 'どの しゃしんが みたいかな' in the fourth-floor library; a postcard gift at the museum shop for purchases of 2,000 yen or more from 1 to 16 August; and a limited-time 'すいかのケーキ' at the first-floor cafe through 21 September. The museum’s summer programme continues through 30 August at Tokyo Photographic Art Museum in Ebisu Garden Place.
