Information about the 2027 exhibitions has been released. Suntory Museum of Art is celebrating 20 years since moving to and opening in Tokyo’s Roppongi district.
One exhibition will introduce masterpieces and treasures of Lotus Sutra art from ancient times through the early modern period, using three themes: building pagodas, copying and dedicating sutras, and creating Buddhist images. It will also focus on aspects of Lotus Sutra faith among early modern painters.
The national-treasure Chōjū-giga will be exhibited at the museum for the first time in 20 years since the 2007 Roppongi opening commemorative exhibition.
The galleries will display all 20 of the museum’s national treasures and Important Cultural Properties in various ways.
