Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo in Turin will inaugurate 'Continente Arte', a solo exhibition by Adji Dieye, on 10 September 2026, alongside Luc Ndikubwimana’s performance 'RE-VEIL: the sound of images'. The foundation is presenting the exhibition in collaboration with Associazione Genesi, continuing a partnership between the two institutions that began in 2023 in support of younger generations of Italian artists active on the international scene.
According to the foundation’s announcement, 'Continente Arte' is curated by Ilaria Bernardi. The project centers on a new two-channel video installation and a series of unpublished sculptures. Through these works, Dieye examines how language and architecture can give form to cultural imaginaries that, over time, continue to shape how the present is read. The exhibition also takes up a reflection on a form of Western cultural unconscious and on the categories, often left unexamined, through which the art system interprets and assigns value to works.
The video installation is set in a teleshopping studio and uses irony and critical distance to stage the ways market forces, media, and institutions project pre-made narratives onto the artist. In the project description, the two presenters, Tiziana Bianchi, a fictional character played by Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, and Alessandro Orlando, who appears as himself but also as an art-fair seller, construct arguments about value that rely largely on factors external to the works’ formal and conceptual complexity. The text says that attention is directed toward the artist’s geographic origin, stereotypes associated with Afro-descendant artists, and audience expectations around identity and social themes.
The show’s sculptural component extends that inquiry into material form. Inspired by Neo-Sudanese architecture, the sculptures are described as tilted and crossed by mirrors, suggesting the way an image or imaginary can acquire physical consistency and eventually come to stand in for what it claims to represent. The exhibition places these elements in continuity with one another, linking the video work’s satirical critique to the sculptures’ spatial and material projection.
Also on 10 September, Ndikubwimana will present 'RE-VEIL: the sound of images'. The performance is described as an Afro-futurist sound-art work that enters into dialogue with a video-art composition. Both parts focus on the trajectory of Black art, Afro-descendant cultures, and Black voices that have passed through and reshaped contemporary history. The announcement says the work seeks to rewrite collective imagery rather than reproduce the racist vision contained in a daily "archive of ideas".
Ndikubwimana’s performance is also presented as a moment of restitution for the Agitu Ideo Gudeta Fellowship, an affirmative-action initiative developed by Centrale Fies in collaboration with Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo and Palazzo Grassi - Punta della Dogana, created to counter the absence of diversity in the art world. The foundation states that admission is free. The inauguration is scheduled for 10 September 2026 at Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo in Turin.
