The Museu de Montserrat inaugurated 'Porta’m a la terra en un dibuix' by Ignasi Blanch on May 22, introducing an exhibition that combines drawing with an immersive virtual reality experience. According to the museum’s announcement, the VR element lets visitors see the artist at work in Roquetes, described as his homeland and working landscape, offering a closer look at the creative process behind the works on view.
The show is part of the museum’s current temporary exhibitions and is listed on the institution’s website as running until November 22, 2026. The museum’s August update also highlights the virtual reality feature as a way to bring visitors into Blanch’s workshop and creative environment without leaving Montserrat, framing the installation as part of the exhibition’s interpretive route rather than as a separate event.
Museum material describes 'Porta’m a la terra en un dibuix' as an introduction to Blanch’s recognizable visual universe, shaped by the force of drawing, poetic density and a strong capacity for evocation. The exhibition focuses on recurring themes in his work, especially memory and the relationship between reality and imagination, and presents the artist’s drawings as a means of transforming experiences, recollections and impressions into a personal visual language.
The museum’s exhibition text says the presentation is not intended as a fixed retrospective, but as a way of observing how certain elements recur across Blanch’s practice. In this framework, each drawing becomes a fragment of reality fixed on paper, while the broader display emphasizes how Blanch’s varied techniques, formats and commissions still remain anchored in an immediately identifiable manner of drawing and seeing.
The inauguration included a discussion with the curator and the artist, moderated by Rita Roig. A podcast episode released by the Museu de Montserrat adds that the inauguration took place in the Sala Puig i Cadafalch and included the museum’s director, G. Xavier Caballé, curator Àngel Burgas and Ignasi Blanch, with the conversation followed by closing remarks from Father Manel Gasch, abbot of Montserrat. The museum’s original announcement had noted the abbot’s attendance at the event.
The museum is also using its current communications to point visitors toward the temporary exhibition schedule and opening hours, noting that it is open daily through September 13, from 10 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. Within that program, 'Porta’m a la terra en un dibuix' remains one of the key temporary presentations, alongside 'Riu Serra · el futur primigeni', which is also currently on view at the museum.
