The Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas has extended ‘Nic Nicosia: Everyday Surreal’ by one week, pushing the exhibition’s run through August 23, 2026. The museum said the change was made due to popular demand. The announcement comes in the center’s August newsletter, which also points visitors to an accompanying video walkthrough with Chief Curator Jed Morse and to a public sketching tour tied to the show.
‘Nic Nicosia: Everyday Surreal’ is presented as a survey exhibition of one of Dallas’s important living artists, and the Nasher describes it more specifically as a survey of the last 25 years of Nicosia’s five-decade career. The exhibition appears within the institution’s broader programming at 2001 Flora Street, where the Nasher offers exhibitions, public talks, family events, and other activities across its galleries and sculpture garden. Its current material frames the show as a major focus for August, with the museum highlighting both the extension and related programming.
The survey is also being supported with online interpretation. The Nasher’s newsletter directs audiences to an exclusive video in which Jed Morse walks through ‘Nic Nicosia: Everyday Surreal’ and discusses the bodies of work, overarching themes, and techniques used by the Dallas artist in the Nasher presentation. The museum’s event page and email make clear that the exhibition is not only a display of finished works but also part of an interpretive effort to guide visitors through Nicosia’s practice.
Alongside the exhibition, the Nasher has scheduled a sketching tour for August 9 at 11:30 a.m. The event invites participants to explore ‘Nic Nicosia: Everyday Surreal’ with a guided tour led by Manager of Visitor Experience Isabel, and visitors are encouraged to bring a notebook and pencil. The museum says the tour is included with admission, with separate pricing for members, military or first responders, students and educators, seniors, and adults, and that space is limited.
The rest of the Nasher’s August bulletin situates Nicosia’s exhibition within a busy month of public programming. The newsletter also mentions Free First Saturdays on August 1, another sketching tour on August 15 focused on Roy Lichtenstein, and ‘til Midnight at the Nasher on August 21. Those items appear as separate events in the museum’s calendar and are not part of the Nicosia exhibition itself, but they indicate the range of programs the center is offering during the same period.
