The Castello di Rivoli Museo d’Arte Contemporanea has opened the second edition of 'Inserzioni', a six-month commission-based programme that brings new site-specific works into the museum’s baroque rooms and its permanent-collection route. Running from 27 March to 30 August 2026 in the Edificio Castello on the first and second floors, the project is curated by Francesco Manacorda, with an intervention by Huda Takriti curated by Linda Fossati.
According to the museum, 'Inserzioni' is designed as an evolving exhibition device rather than a fixed display. It invites contemporary artists to work in active dialogue with the castle’s unfinished architecture and with the layered historical and symbolic character of its rooms. The museum says the commissions are intended to renew the installation periodically while expanding the cultural perspective of the permanent collection.
This edition brings together Gabriel Chaile, Lonnie Holley and Huda Takriti. Their practices, as presented by the museum, engage with memory, genealogy and the construction of collective narratives across different geographic and cultural contexts. The project also continues the Castello di Rivoli’s stated emphasis on revisiting art-historical canons and opening the museum to traditions and viewpoints that question dominant Western narratives.
Chaile’s intervention is linked to the castle’s medieval well, an element the museum describes as connecting the building to the hill on which it stands. His installation transforms the space into something between a historical diorama and a science-fiction setting, with an anthropomorphic clay figure interacting with sculptural elements that suggest a precarious camp. The museum notes that Chaile’s work draws on a notion of “genealogy of form,” and that his sculptures are made with clay, earth and adobe in reference to artisanal traditions and indigenous cosmologies of northwestern Argentina.
Holley presents a group of new sculptures and paintings in the Sala dei Continenti, a room decorated in the 18th century with allegorical representations of the geopolitical vision of the period. The museum says Holley extends the tradition of Black Art from the southern United States through found and reclaimed materials, including burnt wood, metal, plastic and everyday objects. His work in the castle is described as creating a critical tension with the room’s historic imagery while addressing collective memory, social inequality, historical violence and the possibility of spiritual and political transformation.
Takriti’s practice combines archival research, video and performance. For 'Inserzioni', the museum says, she has developed a project examining the role of images, cinema, institutions and industry in shaping postwar historical narratives. The presentation includes the video 'Clarity is the Closest Wound to the Sun' (2023) and two new productions, among them 'It Is Always Midnight In Their Minds' (2026), developed from research in Italian archives. The project also looks at the relationship between the ENI, former European colonies, including Italian ones, and colonies still struggling for liberation in the 1950s and 1960s, and includes a vinyl installation conceived as a contemporary fresco along the walls of Sala 29.
The exhibition is listed as continuing until 30 August 2026. The museum’s current visitor information notes that 'Inserzioni' is among the exhibitions in its summer programme, alongside 'Nanda Lanfranco: Ritratti d’artista', which is also scheduled until 30 August 2026.
