Wolverhampton Art Gallery is presenting 'Andy Warhol: Art Star', an ARTIST ROOMS exhibition developed in partnership with Tate and the National Galleries of Scotland. The show runs until 4 October 2026 and brings together works from across Warhol’s career, including drawings, screenprints, paintings and photographs made between the 1950s and the 1980s.
The gallery says the exhibition includes both iconic and lesser-known works, with images of Marilyn Monroe, The Beatles, Elizabeth Taylor and Warhol’s well-known 'Campbell’s Soup' motif among the featured material. The exhibition page describes Warhol as one of the most influential American artists of the post-war period and a leading figure in Pop Art, an artist whose work reimagined the possibilities of art in a period of social, political and technological change.
ARTIST ROOMS is a touring programme presenting solo exhibitions drawn from a national collection jointly owned by Tate and the National Galleries of Scotland. The programme is developed through local partnerships and is intended to reach audiences across the UK. At Wolverhampton Art Gallery, the exhibition is presented as an ARTIST ROOMS partnership exhibition, placing the city’s venue within that wider network of touring shows.
The exhibition is ticketed, with adults admitted for £9. Concessions for students and Universal Credit claimants are £4.50, while children and young people under 21 can enter free. Art Fund pass holders and Friends of Wolverhampton Art Gallery also pay £4.50, and the gallery has designated 'pay what you can' days on Sunday 6 and Sunday 20 September.
A linked programme of events accompanies the exhibition across the summer and early autumn. The gallery has scheduled talks, tours, workshops, film screenings and Friday night events under the 'Andy Warhol: Art Star Events' banner. Among the verified publicised dates are 'Warhol in Wolverhampton: Talk and Tour' led by Jon Sleigh on 13 June and 26 September, and a curator’s talk with Senior Curator Sanna Moore on 2 August and 2 September.
The film programme includes 'The Queen' on 9 June, 'Before Stonewall' on 23 June, 'That Summer' on 14 July, 'Beautiful Darling' on 11 August and a short film double bill on 11 September. Family-focused activities are also listed, with sessions including 'Pop Art Tiles', 'Warhol’s Wardrobe: Pop Art Fashion Design', 'Art Star Screen Prints', 'Snazzy Sun Art', 'Every Day “Pop-Art” Collage', 'Stop Motion Animations: Andy Warhol Style' and 'Print like Warhol'.
