Kunsthaus Biel Centre d’art Bienne is showing 'Le fantôme de la chance', an exhibition by John M Armleder, from 14 June to 6 September 2026. The institution describes the Geneva-based artist (*1948) as having spent forty years moving between different artistic movements, practices and media, with a body of work marked by a constant questioning of what is expected of art, of its value and of the ways it is presented.
The Biel presentation concentrates on Armleder’s graphic work and brings together several hundred drawings in a new arrangement. These are complemented by paintings, sculptures and installations, some of them made from objects found in Biel. According to the exhibition page, the show was realised in collaboration with MAMCO in Geneva, with the support of Pro Helvetia, the Fonds Municipal d’art contemporain (FMAC) and the Service cantonal de la culture (SCC).
The exhibition is shown at Kunsthaus Biel, also referred to as Centre d’art Bienne, at Seevorstadt – Fbg du Lac 71 in Biel/Bienne, Switzerland. The institution notes that it is part of Pasquart and publishes its programme in German, French and English. Its opening hours are Wednesday 12:00 to 18:00, Thursday 12:00 to 20:00, Friday 12:00 to 18:00, and Saturday and Sunday 11:00 to 18:00, with the same hours on public holidays.
Two dated events accompany the exhibition in its closing weeks: a bilingual guided tour on Thursday 27 August 2026 at 18:30, shared with Mimosa Echard’s exhibition, and an ‘Art at Noon’ session devoted to Armleder on Friday 4 September 2026 at 12:15. The Pasquart site also holds its Summer Act summer party on Saturday 15 August 2026 from 16:00 to 21:30.
Alongside 'Le fantôme de la chance', the Kunsthaus Biel programme for 2026 includes 'Dolls’ Theater' by Mimosa Echard from 14 June to 6 September 2026, 'THE SHANGHAI VIBE' presented by Swatch from 16 July to 30 August 2026, and the residency programme 'Le Fond de l’Air' from 19 February to 20 December 2026. Armleder’s exhibition closes on 6 September 2026.
