The North Carolina Museum of Art’s newest commissioned artwork is ‘South / North,’ a large wall drawing created by Ronny Quevedo and installed in the East Building.
The work is a large wall drawing containing markings and constellation diagrams, and it scales the entire section with a deep blue color that brings life into the space.
Quevedo was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, immigrated to the Bronx at a young age, and still resides and works there.
His practice has been shaped by New York’s layered geography and expansive culture, while much of his work incorporates aspects of abstraction, painting, collage, and cartography.
