The work was selected by The Block’s 2025–26 Collection Council.

'Many Mornings Later' is a large-scale handmade paper artwork that incorporates cotton and soil from True Blue Plantation in South Carolina, human hair collected from Harlem barbershops, indigo, clay, mica, periwinkle and other organic materials.

The work explores how materials hold and communicate histories. Gbadebo’s work is currently featured in the 2026 Venice Biennale.

Collection Council members participate in dialogue with curators, artists and peers, guided by an annual thematic focus that informs their annual acquisition recommendation.
