It includes an hour in the galleries with Brandeis Professor Brian Horton, focused on intimacy, play, and desire in ‘Jenna Gribbon: Entwined.’
The discussion will focus on Gribbon’s paintings ‘Night swimming wrestlers’ and ‘3AM Haircut,’ both from 2018.
Horton will consider the thin line between homosocial play and eroticism in Gribbon’s paintings.
The informal gallery conversation explores the charged space between friendship, play, attraction, and eroticism in Gribbon’s work. It also invites participants to spend an hour in the exhibition, share observations, and consider how Gribbon blurs the boundaries between private moments and shared experience.
The conversation is organized in conjunction with the exhibition ‘Jenna Gribbon: Entwined,’ which runs from August 19, 2026, through January 3, 2027. The program is co-sponsored by the Mandel Center for the Humanities at Brandeis University.
