mumok is inviting people to an artist talk with Vienna artist Sevda Chkoutova on Tuesday, 3 November 2026. The event is presented as a conversation between Chkoutova, mumok director general Fatima Hellberg and curatorial assistant Dora Cohnen.
Chkoutova developed the mole for the new mumok Atelier as a playmate and partner for children and their diverse ideas.
The mole can barely see, and it learns most of what it knows about the world by feeling its way through it. Otherwise, it differs little from people.
A 140-square-metre level of mumok will soon be available as an open space for creating, trying things out and experimenting. The space is intended for everyone from 0 to 13 years old.
Chkoutova was born in 1978 in Sofia, Bulgaria, and has lived in Vienna since 1997. She works as an independent artist, with bodies—predominantly female bodies—at the centre of her artistic practice. Her work focuses on the experiences those bodies have in society.
