mumok kino will screen Kate Millett’s ‘Three Lives’ on Wednesday, 21 October 2026, at 19:00.
Made in 1971, ‘Three Lives’ is Kate Millett’s only completed film.
The film was made during a period of transition in Millett’s career. Her first book, ‘Sexual Politics’, published in 1970 and translated into German as ‘Sexus und Herrschaft’ in 1971, had made her almost overnight a spokesperson for the feminist movement; with ‘Three Lives’, she sought to direct attention towards ordinary women and to reposition herself as an artist.
Sam Huber will introduce the screening by considering ‘Three Lives’ in relation to Millett’s work ‘Terminal Piece’ from 1972.
The screening programme is presented as part of the ‘Terminal Piece’ exhibition.
