mumok is currently presenting ‘Figure of the Child’ as the first museum solo exhibition of artist Tolia Astakhishvili. The exhibition is identified by the museum as one of two special exhibitions currently extending across all levels of the institution.

‘Figure of the Child’ is scheduled to run at mumok from 20 June to 1 November 2026. The exhibition listing gives the dates alongside Astakhishvili’s name and the exhibition title, establishing the presentation’s opening and closing dates within the museum’s 2026 programme.

The exhibition is presented together with ‘Terminal Piece’, which the museum describes as the starting point for the two exhibitions. In this paired arrangement, ‘Figure of the Child’ and ‘Terminal Piece’ form the basis of a current museum programme spread across all of mumok’s levels.

Before the opening of ‘Figure of the Child’, the Tolia Curriculum consisted of daily events. Since that programme, level -2 at mumok has become a place of hospitality, repeatedly brought to life through conversations, music, shared meals and listening. The evidence describes these activities as the means through which the level was newly animated during the programme connected with Astakhishvili’s exhibition.
