Kurimanzutto presents Carlos Amorales: ‘Anteparaíso’ at its Mexico City gallery from November 5 to December 16, 2026.
The exhibition includes a monumental installation, the drawing series ‘ThisPersonDoesNotExist,’ and the animated triptych ‘Paraíso’ in the gallery’s Project Room. Amorales introduces a cast of imaginary beings whose interactions unfold through sequences of drawings and animation.
Working across drawing, animation, installation, and graphic experimentation, Amorales creates visual narratives that explore systems of power, processes of social and cultural transformation, and the shifting boundaries between human imagination and technological production.
The exhibition examines artificial intelligence, surveillance, colonialism, power, and the shifting boundaries between the artificial and the organic. In its fictional universe, artificial intelligence is held between the promise of salvation and the threat of an apocalypse brought about by the same technology.
Amorales has developed a multidisciplinary practice that draws on analog and digital techniques to construct fictional worlds through which he examines the tensions and contradictions of contemporary life.
