The Nevada Museum of Art has mounted 'Into the Time Horizon', a sweeping exhibition that occupies every gallery of the museum and runs from November 15, 2025, to January 3, 2027. The project brings together nearly 200 artists in a wide-ranging examination of environmental concerns, with sections that address climate change, ecofeminism, ecological resilience and the ways art can foster awareness for future generations.
According to the museum, the exhibition is organized by Apsara DiQuinzio, the Andrea and John C. Deane Family Chief Curator, with Kolin Perry, assistant curator. The museum describes the project as an invitation to consider how people might move forward on the planet “ethically, responsibly, and with care for coming generations,” while also seeking to “catalyze and amplify protection for the Earth.” The title refers to the economic idea of a time horizon, which the museum links to the climate crisis through Kim Stanley Robinson’s novel 'The Ministry for the Future'.
The exhibition is structured around seven discrete thematic sections and includes several large-scale installations that connect its main concerns. The museum says the show spans all mediums and highlights artists integrating environmentalism into their creative approaches. More than 50 percent of the participating artists identify as female, and ecofeminism is presented as a recurring motif within the project.
Among the artists and works identified on the exhibition page are Maya Lin’s 'Pin River–Tahoe Watershed', Ernesto Neto’s 'Children of the Earth', Pierre Huyghe’s 'Human Mask', and Mark Dion’s 'Cabinet of Extinction'. Other named works include Rebecca Belmore’s 'ishkode (fire)', Otobong Nkanga’s 'Double Plot', Kiki Smith’s 'Spinners', Clarissa Tossin’s 'Becoming Mineral', and Mitch Epstein’s 'BP Carson Refinery, California', from the series 'American Power'. The museum also lists Jeffrey Gibson, Gloria Tamerre Petyarre, Didier William and El Anatsui among the artists represented.
Several sections of the exhibition have their own date ranges within the overall run. 'Maya Lin: Pin River–Tahoe Watershed' is on view from November 15, 2025, to May 31, 2026, while 'Ernesto Neto: Children of the Earth' runs from November 15, 2025, to September 20, 2026. Other sections include 'Listening to the Land', 'Circularity', 'Interspecies Relationships', 'The Sixth Extinction', 'Strange Weather', 'Pierre Huyghe: Human Mask', 'This Vital Earth', 'Altered Lands and the Anthropocene', a film and video series, and the ongoing exhibition playlist '101 Songs for the Environment'.
The museum’s calendar shows the exhibition already generating related programming. Public events include an opening curator talk with DiQuinzio, artist talks with Eddie Rodolfo Aparicio, Teresa Baker, Xiaojing Yan, Rodney McMillian and Isabella Kirkland, and a conversation between Odili Donald Odita and Torkwase Dyson. Aparicio’s July 30 talk is tied to 'La ceiba me salvó/The Ceiba Saved Me', which the museum says is on view in 'This Vital Earth' and uses rubber castings of ficus trees to trace layered histories of Indigenous knowledge, material and place-making. 'Into the Time Horizon' is presented as a museum-wide framework for those programs rather than a single-gallery display.
The exhibition is sponsored by the Wayne L. Prim Foundation, with lead sponsors including The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, Thomas Lee Bottom, Sandy Raffealli | Bill Pearce Motors and the Teiger Foundation. The museum also notes that 'Into the Time Horizon' is predated by a members’ premiere on April 17, 2026, and lists the exhibition as current through January 3, 2027.
