Regina de Miguel’s ‘Un mundo turbiamente vivo’ will be inaugurated on 28 October.
The exhibition is scheduled at IVAM Centre Julio González from 28 October 2026 to 11 April 2027.
The exhibition imagines an extraterrestrial museum, terraformed unsuccessfully centuries earlier, as a memory apparatus for a failed space utopia.
Its fictional Museum of Tornus is set in a future where museums have lost their legitimising and educational functions, leaving an archive conscious of its incompleteness, contamination and complicity in the slow violence running through the universe.
The project is divided between the Archivo Telúrico de Tornus, an artificial swamp combining life, waste, data, matter and geological elements, and the newly produced audiovisual essay ‘Aguas intoxicadas, cometas nunca más vistos, una reunión de suicidas’ (2026).
The essay follows a scientist trapped in a pandemic and addresses anxiety, ecological guilt, data saturation and the difficulty of imagining a future.
It uses Puerto Rico’s Arecibo observatory, coral farms and wetlands as examples of territories and bodies made gradually uninhabitable through accumulated military, economic and scientific decisions.
The project continues de Miguel’s investigation into extractivist ambition on Earth and in space, shifting its political question from progressive escape to how to inhabit a damaged system.
