Pilar Albarracín Receives Spain’s 2026 National Visual Arts Award

IVAM mourned Valencian artist Manolo Boix. The message was issued as a farewell marked by particular sadness.

The museum preserves eight works by Manuel Boix in its collection. In 1995, IVAM dedicated an exhibition to Boix alongside Artur Heras and Rafael Armengol.

One hundred and fifty years later, Julio González still occupies an essential place in the history of contemporary sculpture.

‘Sant Bru’ (1973) is identified as one of the works in the collection. In the work, Boix transforms Saint Bruno, a symbol of silence and contemplation, into an allegory of oppression and censorship during the final years of Franco’s dictatorship.
