IVAM’s Julio González holdings rank among the most significant representations of his career

Julio González was born in 1876. The artist revolutionized sculpture by daring to ‘draw in space’.

IVAM mourned Valencian artist Manolo Boix. The message was issued as a farewell marked by particular sadness.

The museum preserves eight works by Manuel Boix in its collection. In 1995, IVAM dedicated an exhibition to Boix alongside Artur Heras and Rafael Armengol.

‘Sant Bru’ (1973) is identified as one of the works in the collection. In the work, Boix transforms Saint Bruno, a symbol of silence and contemplation, into an allegory of oppression and censorship during the final years of Franco’s dictatorship.
