Morgan Sears-Williams to Present Work on the South Facade Billboard

Morgan Sears-Williams to Present Work on the South Facade Billboard Image: The Power Plant, Toronto

Morgan Sears-Williams will present work on the South Facade Billboard from October 24, 2026, through March 21, 2027. Alongside the billboard takeover, the gallery will show ‘Owner of a Lonely Heart’, a film program featuring Haig Aivazian, Stephanie Comilang, Alia Farid, Hope Pearl Strickland, and Yuyan Wang, in parallel with two new commissions by Ella Gonzales and Sami Tsang.

The work ‘feeling along the edges’ (2025) consists of several 16mm film strips collated into one frame capturing Hanlan’s Point Beach. Hanlan’s Point Beach is a site of queer community and refuge.

Sears-Williams filmed the beach, then developed the film in instant coffee and buried it in the sand for five days.

The resulting work connects Hanlan’s Point’s ecological disintegration with the disappearance of longstanding public spaces for queer communities.

Morgan Sears-Williams is an interdisciplinary artist and cultivator whose art practice reflects on queer feminist histories, both known and unknown, while speaking to larger structures of power and oppression.
