An exhibition will offer insight into the work of Liza Hribar, an artist about whom people have long remained silent. It will also present an account of Hribar’s creative and life trajectory, shaped by motherhood, personal trials, and the uncertainty of wartime and postwar periods.
The exhibition will provide insight into work that spans portrait sculpture as well as decorative and sacred art. Among the works highlighted are nativity scenes, zodiac signs, and small angels known as ‘amorčki’.
Its framing asks whether a mother can also be an artist and how much sculpture may mean to her when war arrives, particularly during the uncertainty of the postwar period.
The exhibition page identifies Hribar’s ‘Otroška igra’, made in 1949 in fired clay, as a work in the collection of Mestni muzej Ljubljana.
