The Bronx Museum of the Arts has extended ‘The Seventh AIM Biennial: Forms of Connection’ through September 6, keeping on view an exhibition built from the most recent two cohorts of its AIM Fellowship program. The show opened January 23, 2026, and was originally scheduled to close June 29 before the museum announced the extension in its July newsletter. The exhibition remains free to the public, and the museum says it is open Wednesdays through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

According to the museum’s exhibition page, ‘The Seventh AIM Biennial’ brings together work by 28 artists who completed the 2024 and 2025 AIM Fellowships. The participating artists from the 2024 cohort are Skip Brea, Hedwig Brouckaert, Jordan Cruz, Ricki Dwyer, Bryan Fernandez, Diana Guerra, DeepPond Kim, Juyon Lee, Delvin Lugo, Jodie Lyn-Kee-Chow, lauren mcavoy, Laurel Richardson, Asia Stewart, and Motohiro Takeda. The 2025 fellows are Katie Chin, Noga Cohen, Jill Cohen-Nuñez, Rocío Delaloye, Nazli Efe, Erick Alejandro Hernandez, Leekyung Kang, kiarita, Sangmin Lee, Massiel Mafes, Piero Penizzotto, Jennifer Teresa Villanueva, Cyle Warner, and V Yeh.

The biennial is co-curated by Patrick Rowe, the museum’s director of education and public engagement, and Nell Klugman, former associate director of the department. The museum describes the exhibition as an inquiry into how institutions can foster connection and belonging within museum space. It says the artists, through the AIM program, developed structures of connection and community, and that their work together “begins a conversation that invites and extends further communal experience.”

Now in its 45th year, AIM is presented by the museum as an intensive year-long seminar program designed to help artists develop and sustain their careers. The museum says it has long combined practical training with community building, and that the fellowship concludes with a public convening and a biennial exhibition that places participants’ work in an institutional setting. On the exhibition page, the museum notes that AIM has been running for 45 consecutive years and continues to support artists through professional development and a dedicated exhibition platform.

The exhibition is organized in three overlapping sections. The museum says the works explore connection and disconnection to heritage, memory, time, culture, and geography; to society and its norms, practices, and structures, through social and institutional critique; and to other individuals or groups, through ideas of identity, intimacy, and distance. Seen together, the pieces are presented as mapping “intersections and oppositions, isolation and belonging.”

The museum’s extension announcement also points to continued programming around the show. It says the museum is partnering with AIM artists to present events throughout the extension period, and that a catalogue documenting ‘Forms of Connection’ will be available in the Museum Gift Shop beginning in August. The exhibition page lists a series of public programs, including an open house with exhibiting artists in conversation on April 18 and a culminating open house on August 29 with multiple events tied to the biennial.

The Bronx Museum’s newsletter said the extended run remains “for all ages” and free. The museum is located at 1040 Grand Concourse in the Bronx.
