Writer Olivia Rosenthal stages fifty Giacometti sculptures on a single platform at the Institut Giacometti in Paris

The Institut Giacometti in Paris will present "Alberto Giacometti / Olivia Rosenthal. Sortir du bois" from November 11, 2026, to February 21, 2027, at its premises on rue Victor-Schoelcher in the 14th arrondissement. Organized by the Fondation Giacometti, the exhibition marks the first time the institute has invited a contemporary writer to place her own work in dialogue with Giacometti's.

The show follows a series of exhibitions at the institute devoted to Giacometti's friendships with the writers of his own era. This time the author Olivia Rosenthal takes up the question of scale, from the tiny to the monumental. The exhibition brings together about fifty sculptures by Giacometti, displayed side by side on a large platform built at the centre of the institute, in a staging the foundation describes as entirely new.

Rosenthal has also written an original text for the exhibition catalogue. Working with the composer and video artist Eryck Abecassis, she brings that text into the galleries themselves, so that her writing becomes part of the visitor's experience of the sculptures.
