Galerie Anhava in Helsinki has announced that it now represents the Finnish artist Inka Bell, following her first solo exhibition with the gallery in August 2026.
Born in Espoo in 1981 and based in Helsinki, Bell works in what the gallery calls the expanded field of printmaking, moving between printed images, paper sculpture and public art. Paper is at the centre of her practice, used both as a surface to print on and as a material shaped into new forms. Through colour, form, material and repetition, her work tests the boundary between two and three dimensions. The gallery places her in a line running back to Minimalism, Concretism and Kinetic art, and describes works built around small moments of change and movement that ask viewers to notice how they shift in relation to the space around them.
Her exhibition at Anhava, titled "Edestakas | Fram och tillbaka | To and Fro," ran from August 6 to August 30, 2026. It brought together paper sculptures and collage-like pieces made with screen printing and laser engraving, including "Nine Rotating Half Circles," "Opposites," "Circle Transforming Across Paper" and "Rotating Stripy Circle," all from 2026, as well as "Decelerate & Accelerate," a work in paper and stainless steel. The show was supported by Arts Promotion Centre Finland and the Oskar Öflund Foundation.
Bell completed a Master of Fine Arts in printmaking at the Academy of Fine Arts of the University of the Arts Helsinki in 2021. She has exhibited at Haus des Papiers in Berlin and at Backlash Gallery in Paris, and in Finland at Kiasma, Turku Art Museum and EMMA Espoo Museum of Modern Art, among other venues. Her work is held in public collections in Finland, the United States, Denmark and Belgium, including Kiasma, HAM Helsinki Art Museum, Turku Art Museum and EMMA. She has also made several commissioned public works in Finland, most recently for the Hanaholmen Art Park, and in 2024 she received the Finnish Art Society's William Thuring Grand Prize.
