Artspace Aotearoa is presenting ‘Group Admits Mistake’, an exhibition of new work by Lolani Dalosa, Ken Faber, Lily Greig, Ton Ray and Rangi White.
The five Tāmaki Makaurau-based artists were invited independently through the Chartwell Trust New Commissions programme. The exhibition runs from 10 October to 19 December 2026, with an opening event on Friday 9 October from 6–8pm.
The artists have all produced semi-fictional worlds that raise questions about authority, participation and meaning. Cabins, shelters, underworlds and purgatories introduce characters who experience uncertainty, misunderstanding and boundaries.
The exhibition asks what happens when we find ourselves part of a system we cannot fully understand or control.
Over the course of the year, the artists will share insights into their creative processes and the development of their works, shaped through studio visits, research trips, mentor exchanges and ongoing experimentation as part of the Chartwell Trust New Commissions programme. The exhibition is presented with support from the Chartwell Trust, with additional programme support from The Karekare House Artist Residency and Eden Arts Trust.
