'Buddhist Statues: National Treasures × Higo Buddhist Statues' to Open October 9

The Kumamoto Prefectural Museum of Art will present ‘Buddhist Sculptures: National Treasure × Higo Buddhist Sculpture—10 Years Since the Kumamoto Earthquake,’ an exhibition bringing together Buddhist sculptures connected with Kumamoto and a National Treasure from Kyoto.

Two years after its presentation in Venice, a Yuko Mohri exhibition will be reconstructed at the Yokohama Museum of Art from July 24 through November 23, 2026.

The ‘15th Ishi Prize Award-Winning Artists Exhibition’ will run from October 3 through November 3, 2026.

A special exhibition commemorative symposium will be held on 1 November, under the title ‘The Use and Management of Sculpture in Museums.’ The program will address how museums can protect the works entrusted to them and pass them on to the future, with a focus on the conservation and restoration of sculpture.
