The Museo Lázaro Galdiano in Madrid will present ‘Bunny’, the first solo exhibition in Spain by New York photographer Talia Chetrit, as part of PHotoESPAÑA. The exhibition is scheduled for 5 June to 30 August 2026 in the museum’s Sala Pardo Bazán and will include about 20 photographs drawn from across Chetrit’s career, including some unpublished works.
The museum’s announcement places the show within PHotoESPAÑA’s Official Section and says it is supported by LOEWE and Fundación LOEWE. Admission will be free. Chetrit, born in 1982, is known for a practice that moves between photography and performance, and for images that probe identity, sexuality and the mechanics of image-making. The museum presents ‘Bunny’ as a sequence intended to shape the act of looking itself.
According to the museum, the works in ‘Bunny’ blur distinctions that recur throughout Chetrit’s practice: exhibitionism and vulnerability, public and private, challenge and artifice. The selection ranges from staged self-portraits and intimate family photographs to still lifes and direct depictions of the body. Several images are described as tableaux that reveal the camera, the studio, or the set-up within the frame, underscoring the link between performance and photography in her work.
The museum also notes that Chetrit’s photographs examine control, authorship, curiosity, intimacy and the passage of time. Some scenes focus on everyday moments that seem suspended outside ordinary time and space, while others suggest psychological and intimate narratives that emerge from multiple viewpoints. The institution characterizes the presentation as a rhythmic sequence spanning early works to new pieces.
For the Museo Lázaro Galdiano, ‘Bunny’ arrives amid a summer programme that combines temporary exhibitions with family activities and guided visits. In the same season, the museum is also presenting ‘Isabel Matoses: La imagen recuperada’ and ‘Antón Casamor: luz y escultura’, but the Chetrit exhibition is distinct as a PHotoESPAÑA entry and as the artist’s first individual show in Spain.
The venue and dates are clearly set out in the museum’s materials: Sala Pardo Bazán, Museo Lázaro Galdiano, Madrid, from 5 June until 30 August 2026. The exhibition is listed with free admission, and the museum’s text describes it as bringing together roughly twenty images that span the artist’s beginnings and include unpublished works in different formats and scales.
