MOCA GA has opened an open call for ‘Gathered VII: Georgia Artists Selecting Georgia Artists,’ the seventh installment of its biennial exhibition celebrating contemporary artistic talent across Georgia. Gathered VII will be the first Gathered presentation in MOCA GA’s new building, designed by Mack Scogin Merrill Elam Architects.

The exhibition is scheduled to run from January 23 through March 27, 2027, with an opening reception on January 23. This year’s exhibition will be juried by Georgia artists Hannah Israel, Craig Drennen and Kelly Taylor Mitchell.

The call includes a $35 non-refundable entry fee and up to $5,000 in awards. Artists are involved in all phases of the project, including selection and review.

The project has steadily evolved over the last twenty years from ‘Within State Lines,’ which took place in 2006 and 2009, to ‘Georgia Artists Selecting Georgia Artists’ in 2013 and 2015, and finally to ‘Gathered: Georgia Artists Selecting Georgia Artists.’

In the 2023 incarnation of Gathered, jurors Betsy Cain, Joseph Peragine and Bojana Ginn selected a diverse spectrum of artwork including sculpture, painting, photography, textiles and new media.
