The exhibition runs from 17 October 2026 to 10 January 2027 at KW Institute for Contemporary Art. Its subject is the shaping and revealing of personal and collective imaginaries through images, objects, mass media, and popular culture, with those forms providing the exhibition’s stated fields of examination.

Over five decades of her work, Hiller researched these mysterious themes and the ways corresponding experiences are represented, remembered, and narrated. Her research therefore concerned not only the subjects themselves, but also the forms through which experiences connected with them are represented, retained in memory, and transmitted as accounts. Hiller described her work with ‘ghosts’ as an engagement with cultural remnants, fragments, and things invisible to most people but significant to some: situations, ideas, and experiences that collectively haunt us. In her formulation, these ‘ghosts’ include what remains culturally, what survives only in fragments, and what may be unseen by most people while retaining importance for a few.
