Tanja Bojanić’s video work ‘tašna, vešmašina, rikverc’ is being shown on the digital exhibition platform Echo)) Space through 15 November 2026.
The Serbian-Swiss artist’s work examines belonging and multilingualism, and asks whether a person can lose and recover a language.
The film begins with the many words Bojanić lacked as a child of Serbian-speaking parents in Switzerland. A taxi driver’s advice in Sarajevo not to lose her language led her on a journey into the linguistic spaces and distances that emerge in conversations with her parents.
The film pursues these questions in three languages. Footage of Bojanić’s parents’ everyday life in Banja Luka overlaps with narrated memories and references from art and literature.
The video is being shown through a collaboration between Kornhausforum and the HKB art collection. Posters designed by Bojanić extend the video’s visual language into public space and make it accessible through a QR code. Bojanić completed the work in 2024 as part of her Bachelor’s degree in Visual Communication at the Bern University of the Arts.
