From 3 September to 15 November 2026, the Kornhausforum’s digital exhibition platform Echo)) Space will present ‘tašna, vešmašina, rikverc’ by Serbian-Swiss artist and designer Tanja Bojanić. The video work examines belonging, linguistic identity and the layered nature of language through a 16-minute, 37-second film made in three languages.
The work begins with the words Bojanić says were missing to her as a child of Serbian-speaking parents growing up in Switzerland. Its title is also presented on the Kornhausforum’s website in English as ‘rikverc, tašna, vešmašina – the language I keep’. The film follows questions about whether a person can lose a language and, if so, whether it can be found again.
According to the exhibition text, a taxi driver’s advice in Sarajevo not to lose her language prompted Bojanić’s investigation into the linguistic spaces and distances that emerge in conversations with her parents. The film combines footage of her parents’ everyday life in Banja Luka with narrated memories and references from art and literature.
The presentation forms part of a cooperation between the Kornhausforum and the Hochschule der Künste Bern (HKB) Art Collection. Bojanić completed a bachelor’s degree in Visual Communication at HKB in 2024 with the work. The exhibition material identifies her as both an artist and a designer, placing the video within a practice shaped by visual communication as well as personal and linguistic inquiry.
The Echo)) Space presentation extends beyond the online platform into Bern’s public space. Posters designed by Bojanić stage the visual language of the video and provide access to the work through a QR code. The digital format allows the film to be encountered through the platform while its associated graphic material makes the project visible outside the immediate online presentation.
Kornhausforum describes itself as an exhibition and discourse venue for socially relevant subjects. Echo)) Space is its digital exhibition platform, distinct from the institution’s physical galleries and event rooms. Bojanić’s film will remain available there throughout the scheduled presentation, from 3 September through 15 November 2026.
