Kirchner Museum Davos has announced a special guided tour on 19 July 2026 with chemist Juraj Lipscher, co-author of the standard reference work ‘Das Farbenbuch’. The 45-minute event, titled ‘Spezialführung mit Juraj Lipscher’, is scheduled for 16:00 to 16:45 and carries an admission charge plus an additional CHF 9. The museum says places are limited and recommends booking a ticket online.

The program frames the tour around a simple but far-reaching set of questions: why is the sky blue, why does the dawn appear red, and why do mountains seem violet while snow can look pink in Ernst Ludwig Kirchner’s work? According to the museum’s event page, Lipscher will offer insights into the world of pigments and natural phenomena, with Kirchner’s paintings serving as the point of departure for observations about how colour is seen and understood.

The special tour appears in the museum’s July events lineup alongside a series of activities that all connect Kirchner’s art with different ways of approaching the museum’s collection and current display. Other July offerings include ‘Um Farbtheorien kreisen’, a guided tour on 11 July that places selected colour theories in dialogue with Kirchner’s works; ‘Yoga im Museum’ on 16 July; and ‘Kunst-Hengert’ on 23 July, described as an informal conversation about selected works followed by coffee. The museum also lists regular public tours of the current exhibition ‘FARBENRAUSCH’ on Tuesdays and Sundays.

The July program places strong emphasis on colour, perception and participation. In the newsletter accompanying the announcement, Kirchner Museum Davos also highlights an open studio format called ‘Offenes Atelier - Living Museum’ for adults and young people aged 16 and over, inspired by the exhibition ‘FARBENRAUSCH’. Another family-oriented event, ‘Sommerfest im Kirchner Park’, is set for 5 July 2026 with a jazz concert, creative activities and refreshments. These entries suggest a summer calendar built around public engagement with art, though each event remains separate in format and audience.

Juraj Lipscher’s visit aligns with the museum’s broader focus on Ernst Ludwig Kirchner’s sustained interest in colour. The museum’s own description notes that Kirchner explored the effect of colours on thinking, feeling and seeing throughout his career. By bringing a chemist and pigment specialist into conversation with that legacy, the tour promises a perspective that is at once scientific and art historical, without leaving the museum’s central concern: how colour operates in Kirchner’s paintings and in the world around them.

The ‘Spezialführung mit Juraj Lipscher’ takes place on Sunday, 19 July 2026, at Kirchner Museum Davos, Promenade 82, Davos. The museum advises online ticket booking because of limited capacity. Admission is listed as entry plus CHF 9.
