The Kirchner Museum Davos will host two concerts as part of the Davos Festival in August, bringing chamber music into the museum during a month when its own programme is also centered on the exhibition 'Farbenrausch'. The festival listings identify the first concert, 'Seelenruhe', for Sunday, August 2, 2026, from 11:00 to 12:15, and the second, 'Courage', for Monday, August 10, 2026, from 20:00 to 21:10.
The museum said in its August events newsletter that it is again offering two concerts in the framework of the Davos Festival. The newsletter places both performances at the Kirchner Museum Davos and pairs them with the festival’s own ticketing and information channels. The museum’s general events calendar also lists both Davos Festival dates in its August programme, alongside guided tours, workshops and family activities.
The first concert, 'Seelenruhe', is introduced by the festival as a programme concerned with calm, inwardness and spiritual reflection. Its repertoire includes works by Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber, David Maslanka, Johann Sebastian Bach, Eugène-Auguste Ysaÿe and Georg Philipp Telemann, with Bach’s 'Suite für Violoncello in C-Dur, BWV 1009' appearing several times through the programme. The concert’s performers include Noa Wildschut, Sam Rosenthal, Milena Marena, Sofia de Falco, Axelle Richez and the Osimun Quartet.
The second concert, 'Courage', is framed more explicitly around historical conflict and artistic response. The festival page for the event discusses Hans Krása’s 'Passacaglia und Fuga für Violine, Viola und Violoncello' and notes the composer’s persecution under the Nazi occupation of Bohemia and Moravia, his registration in Theresienstadt in November 1941, his role in the camp’s music section, and his deportation to Auschwitz, where he was murdered. The programme then turns to Bohuslav Martinů, Bach, Henriette Renié, Gaspar Cassadó and Maurice Ravel’s 'Ma mère l’Oye', arranged for wind quintet by Joachim Linckelmann.
Festival material positions both concerts in dialogue with the museum’s current exhibition 'Farbenrausch', which runs from June 14, 2026, to January 3, 2027. The exhibition focuses on Ernst Ludwig Kirchner’s use of colour, describing his work as moving from the intense contrasts of his Berlin years to the vibrating, almost abstract tonalities of his Davos period. The museum also presents 'Farbenrausch' as a setting where art and science meet through interactive stations and experiments that explore how colour is produced and perceived.
Alongside the festival concerts, the museum’s August programme includes repeated 'Offenes Atelier - Living Museum' sessions on Fridays, a children's Ferienpass event titled 'Farbenrausch' on August 6, a 'Stadtspaziergang auf Kirchners Spuren' on several Wednesdays, an English-language guided tour with Amanda West on August 16, and 'Kunst-Hengert' on August 27. The museum lists public German-language tours of 'Farbenrausch' on Tuesdays and Sundays from 16:00 to 16:45, and says the Davos Festival concerts are part of its broader summer schedule at Promenade 82 in Davos.
