The Kirchner Museum Davos will devote a short public tour on 11 July 2026 to the relationship between color theory and the work of Ernst Ludwig Kirchner. Titled 'Um Farbtheorien kreisen', the 45-minute event is scheduled for 16:00 to 16:45 and will be presented in Davos, with admission charged at museum entry plus CHF 9.

According to the museum’s program text, the tour focuses on Kirchner’s lifelong interest in how color affects thinking, feeling and seeing. The museum frames that inquiry through a broad historical range of writers and theorists, naming Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Mary Gartside and Johannes Itten among those who have explored how colors relate to one another, sometimes in contradictory ways. The event asks visitors to consider those theories alongside Kirchner’s own paintings.

The program belongs to the Kirchner Museum Davos’s summer schedule for July 2026, which mixes guided tours with participatory and family-oriented events. Among the other listed activities are a 'Sommerfest im Kirchner Park' on 5 July, an 'Offenes Atelier - Living Museum' series on several Fridays in July, and a 'Spezialführung mit Juraj Lipscher' later in the month. The museum also lists regular public tours of the current exhibition 'FARBENRAUSCH' on Tuesdays and Sundays.

For the color-theory tour, the museum says selected theories will enter into direct dialogue with Kirchner’s works. The event description does not name specific artworks in the tour, but it does present the session as part of the museum’s interpretive programming around Kirchner’s treatment of pigment, atmosphere and visual perception. The museum’s ticket page separately lists standard prices for the exhibition 'FARBENRAUSCH', indicating that adult admission is CHF 20, with reduced rates for some visitors and free entry for children and certain passholders.

Kirchner Museum Davos is located on Promenade 82 in Davos and describes its regular opening hours as Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00, with Monday closed. The museum’s website presents the July program as part of its broader Vermittlung, or educational outreach, offer. The event listing for 'Um Farbtheorien kreisen' recommends booking tickets online.

The color-focused programming continues elsewhere in the month. Juraj Lipscher, identified by the museum as a chemist and co-author of the standard work 'Das Farbenbuch', is due to lead the special tour on 19 July, where questions about sky color, dawn light, violet mountains and pink snow are paired with Kirchner’s imagery. Another July event, 'Yoga im Museum', is set for 16 July in cooperation with Yogaplaza Davos. Each of these formats returns to a common museum theme: color as both a visual phenomenon and a subject of interpretation.
