A special tour is scheduled for 6 October 2026 at 17:30, with art historian and author Stefan Trinks and museum director Dr. Söke Dinkla. The event will focus on Anish Kapoor’s connection to matter, space and perception, bringing those three subjects into a discussion of his work.
At the centre of the tour is the question of how Kapoor uses sculpture not only to create bodies and forms, but also to make emptiness, depth and infinity perceptible.
The event will also place Kapoor’s work in relation to art-historical references ranging from Wilhelm Lehmbruck through Kazimir Malevich to Marcel Duchamp. It frames the conversation around the ways Kapoor challenges conventional ideas of sculpture and dissolves boundaries between body, space and emptiness.
Kapoor is a recipient of the Wilhelm-Lehmbruck-Preis of the City of Duisburg and the Landschaftsverband Rheinland. He was born in Mumbai in 1954. The museum describes his life’s work as influential in the development of art to the present day, while the prize recognises that work as shaping art’s development up to today.
