The auction’s central offering comprises Inuit masterworks from an important two-generation private collection alongside selections from a significant Massachusetts estate. A small collection of ancient Arctic ivories is included in the sale as well.
The announced highlights include major works by Abraham Etungat, Osuitok Ipeelee, Henry Evaluardjuk, Pudlo Pudlat, Tudlik, Niviaxie, Kenojuak Ashevak, Barnabus Arnasungaaq, Lukta Qiatsuk, Ningiukulu Teevee, Pitaloosie Saila, Kananginak Pootoogook and John Kavik.
Two specifically identified highlights are Osuitok Ipeelee’s ‘Rearing Caribou,’ circa 1996, and ‘Resting Caribou,’ circa 1986.
