TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes will inaugurate ‘Mientras seamos salvajes’ on Saturday 3 at noon.
The exhibition will run from 3 October 2026 to 24 January 2027 in Sala B. It brings together works, films, photographs, documents and objects by more than 80 artists and authors.
The project examines how the opposition between civilization and barbarism, particularly in colonial contexts, has established hierarchies among bodies, territories, cultures and forms of knowledge. It is co-curated by Alejandro Castañeda, Néstor Delgado, Katya García-Antón, Roberto Gil, Onda Corta—Joel Peláez and Narelys Hernández—and Sergio Rubira.
Works and displayed material identified on the exhibition page include Sandra Gamarra’s ‘Cuando las papas queman’ (2020–21), Sammy Baloji’s ‘Sin título’ (2015), Manolo Millares’s ‘Pictografía’ (1952) and Leonardo Torriani’s ‘Descripción de las Islas Canarias’ (1590).
