Guimet+ Montpellier, produced through a partnership with the Musée Guimet, is being presented at the Hôtel de Cabrières-Sabatier d’Espeyran through Sunday 1 November 2026. Its inaugural stage is devoted to China and presents an exceptional selection of masterpieces through the themes of beauty, prestige, the sacred and transgression.
The partnership is set to run for four years, presenting one cultural and geographical area per year: China, the Indian world, Japan and the Himalayan world. The programme opens to cultural and geographical areas that are little represented in the museum’s collections.
The venue is the Hôtel de Cabrières-Sabatier d’Espeyran, a townhouse located right next to the Musée Fabre. The Musée Guimet is described as holding Europe’s largest national collection of Asian art.
A guided-tour listing describes the China exhibition as a journey through 30 masterpieces from ‘Guimet+ Chine’. The cultural programme combines artistic practices, conferences and debates.
The exhibition is open to the public on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 11am to 6pm.
